����ֱ�� State University at Trumbull announced the grand opening of At Ease, the campus's first military and veteran resource center, on Monday, Aug. 21. At Ease offers military and veteran students a place to access information on the G.I. Bill®, mental health counseling, community relations, financial aid and other resources available on campus.

����ֱ�� State University graduate and award-winning photojournalist Matthew Thayer has spent the past 43 years in Hawaii, working as a photojournalist for The Maui News newspaper. When Thayer was sent out to cover horse evacuations from the upcountry fires on Maui on Aug. 8, he never expected he would end up covering one of the worst natural disasters in Hawaii’s history.

����ֱ�� State's Summer Commencement ceremonies took place on Manchester Field last Saturday. 

President Todd Diacon welcomed the Class of 2027 during a colorful and festive Convocation celebration, encouraging students to embrace the spirit of the university’s core values. A relatively new tradition on the ����ֱ�� Campus, Convocation not only serves to get students excited for the start of their academic careers at ����ֱ�� State but also to introduce the students to the deans and faculty for each of the university’s colleges.

Senior Delonte Goodman spent the summer working under the direction of mentor Tony Jakli, Ph.D., professor at the Liquid Crystal Institute and graduate student Alex Adaka conducting dielectric measurements for ferronematic liquid crystals.

A scholarship funded through the ����ֱ�� State University Hotel and Conference Center benefits students in ����ֱ�� State's Hospitality Management program. 

With a specific focus on depressed and non-depressed parental groups, the study led by Sara Black, Ph.D., in the Department of Psychological Sciences, seeks to understand how parental depressive symptoms may influence parent-child interaction and the subsequent effects on child development and emotional well-being. 

����ֱ�� State Associate Professor Mei-Chen Lin and her collaborators get funding from the National Communication Association to explore how virtual reality can influence interpersonal communication and intercultural relationships.

For more than a century, "The Rock" on the ����ֱ�� Campus has been a colorful canvas expressing the changing moods of the community.

High school students come to ����ֱ�� State each summer for the School of Music's Percussion Camp.

The ����ֱ�� State University alumni family grew by nearly 1,200 new graduates as the university held its summer commencement ceremonies. The accomplishments of the Summer Class of 2023 were recognized with outdoor commencement ceremonies on Aug. 19.

����ֱ�� State has been recognized for the 15th consecutive year with the Tree Campus Higher Education recognition (previously called the Tree Campus USA designation).

����ֱ�� State’s Office of Admissions is seeing its hard work, creativity and strategic planning pay off by way of increased engagement and an elevated level of interest in the university. 

A federal grant will help restart a major improvement project for a highly trafficked area of downtown ����ֱ��. Changes to East Main Street will include wider sidewalks, bike and pedestrian paths and crossings, and two roundabouts.

����ֱ�� State alumna Jennifer N. Schuller has been named president of Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio. She is the first woman to lead the institution in 75 years.
