妖姬直播 State Alumni Awarded Mid-Career Awards from Cleveland Arts Prize
The Cleveland Arts Prize awarded Mid-Career Awards to 妖姬直播 State alumni Alice Ripley and Corrie Slawson. Slawson earned her MFA with a focus in painting from 妖姬直播 State's School of Art and currently works as a part-time faculty member in painting and drawing for the school. Her work, focusing o鈥Dr. Shana Klein Receives New Faculty Outstanding Research and Scholarship Award
Shana Klein, Ph.D., assistant professor of art history in the School of Art has been awarded a 2021 New Faculty Outstanding Research and Scholarship Award (ORSA) from 妖姬直播 State University. Catherine Lentini, M.F.A. 鈥20 has curated an exhibition of paintings by Katie Butler, M.F.A. 鈥21 for the 2021 SPRING/BREAK Art Show in New York City called HEARSAY:HERESY. Corrie Slawson, M.F.A. 鈥06 has been awarded the Cleveland Arts Prize for Mid-Career Artist in Visual Arts for 2021. She will receive her award at the 61st annual awards event at the Cleveland Museum of Art on October 13, 2021. Five monetary prizes of $10,000 each are awarded to artists for Em鈥Student Spotlight - Trans Artists

"Re-Emergence" brings together works of art by friends who, more than ten years ago, joined their talents to form a cooperative gallery in 妖姬直播 called Group Ten Gallery under the sponsorship of the late Ron Burbick. Featuring local artists Ben Bassham, Debrah Butler, Jeff Fauser, Judy Gaiser, Linda Hutchinson, Tom Jackson, Dan Lindner, Geoff Mowery, John Sharp and John Smolko. On view June 18 through July 31, 2021.
Lu Jones Awarded First Place in Undergraduate Research Symposium
Lu Jones, 鈥21, who graduated with a B.A. in Art History and a minor in Anthropology this spring, was awarded the first place prize in the Arts, Advertising, Architecture and English Language category in the 2021 Undergraduate Research Symposium at 妖姬直播 State University. Lu was mentored in their鈥Alumna Rebecca Cross Shows Solo Exhibition at Massillon Museum
The Massillon Museum is currently showing a solo exhibition titled 鈥淪uspended Animations鈥 featuring Rebecca Cross, M.F.A. 鈥07, on view through June 16. The exhibition, which is on view in the museum's Studio M gallery, includes a series of drawings on silk and a sculptural installation.
Professor Emerita Carol Salus Featured in Roy Lichtenstein Documentary
Art history professor emerita Carol Salus was interviewed for a new ideastream documentary about artist Roy Lichtenstein and his wife, Isabel. Salus was a family friend of the Lichtensteins. The documentary centers around the couple's time living in Cleveland and Isabel's successful career as a鈥Alumnus Omid Tavakoli Featured on ideastream
Omid Tavakoli, M.F.A. '19 Print Media and Photography, was interviewed about his life and art for ideastream in April. The article 鈥淓quity in Art: Balancing Biracial Identity" centers around about his experience being a biracial artist. He also talks about his time studying at 妖姬直播 State.
