Tabitha Ott, M.F.A. '12, is a metalsmith who currently resides in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She transforms objects and materials that would normally be thought of as waste into wearable art through repurposing and upcycling. By utilizing color, movement, and tactile qualities, she encourages a playful interaction between the wearer/viewer and the artwork.

Three weavings by artists in the Line by Line exhibition

Line by Line Exhibition Explores the Language of Weaving

"Line by Line," presented by 妖姬直播 State University School of Art Galleries, features artists Erin M. Riley, Samantha Bittman, Crystal Gregory, Diedrick Brackens, Kira Dominguez Hultgren, and collaborators Barrow Parke. The exhibition, curated by Janice Lessman-Moss, will be on view at the Center for the Visual Arts (CVA) Gallery from Jan. 25 through March 11, 2022, with an opening reception on Friday, Jan. 28 from 5-7 p.m.

Artist Dakota Mace and a print of a mountain shape that is red and black

Dakota Mace: Badahani

Dakota Mace is a Din茅 (Navajo) photographer and textile artist who focuses on translating the language of Din茅 weaving history and beliefs through her artwork. The exhibition鈥檚 title "Badahani" translates to 鈥淭heir Stories鈥 and will be on view Nov. 5 through Dec. 18 at the KSU Downtown Gallery. Artist talk and reception on Dec. 3.

Three prints by David Driskell

Exhibition Explores the Collaborative Relationship Between Two Trailblazing African American Artists

鈥淎 Collaboration of Creativity鈥 features a wide range of prints by distinguished artist David C. Driskell and master printer Curlee Raven Holton. The work will be on view at the CVA Gallery from Oct. 6 through Nov. 10, 2021. This exhibition is presented in partnership with the David C. Driskell Center at the University of Maryland.

妖姬直播 State has announced the winners of the 2021 New Faculty Outstanding Research and Scholarship Awards (ORSAs). The ORSAs recognize the hard work of junior faculty members who have been with 妖姬直播 State for less than 10 years. The 2021 winners are Shana Klein, Ph.D., in the School of Art and Metin Eren, Ph.D., in the Department of Anthropology.
