A Summer to Remember: Marissa Trubatch's Life-Changing Experience in the Bridges Summer Program

One afternoon as I was grocery shopping with my mom when I got a call from an unknown number. Seeing the location was in Ñý¼§Ö±²¥, I had a feeling I should answer. The voice on the other end was explaining to me how I had been chosen to do this program called Bridges. Everything he was explaining seemed unrealistic, and quite frankly, too good to be true. I found myself agreeing to this program without even consulting my family because I was overwhelmed with so much excitement.

Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State student-athletes and alumni have achieved impressive results in their specialized sports such as competing in the Olympics, breaking records and continuously raising the bar for their competitors. The 2020 Summer Olympics are the first games to be postponed in Olympic history, a result of the COVID-19 pandemic. The games will be held this summer in Tokyo, Japan, July 23 through Aug. 8. Ohio Gov. Mike DeWine has appointed Pamela E. Bobst of Rocky River, Ohio, to the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University Board of Trustees. She succeeds former Board Chair and Trustee Ralph M. Della Ratta, and she will serve through May 16, 2030. Bobst currently serves as mayor of the city of Rocky River in Cuyahoga County, a position she has held since 2006, following six terms on the Rocky River City Council. The Office of Student Research (OSR) had already begun reviewing applications for the 2020 Summer Undergraduate Research Experience (SURE) fellowships when stay-at-home orders due to the COVID pandemic forced cancelation of this popular program.
