Student Learning Assessment Plan
Student Learning Assessment Plan Progress Report
Each year, designated faculty from Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University's School of Media and Journalism (MDJ) programs conduct a program-level curriculum, learning and career outcomes assessment of the School. The goal of this assessment is to:
- Learn about how we, as a faculty, can improve our teaching, with an eye toward applying what we’ve learned in our classrooms to benefit our students; and
- To meet the rigorous accreditation standards set by the University and our national accrediting body, the Accrediting Council on Education in Journalism & Mass Communications.
To create the Assessment reports, the following tools were used:
- The Graduating Senior Exit Exam (GSEE), which is a multiple-choice test that evaluates students’ conceptual knowledge of ACEJMC’s Core Values and Competencies, as well as program-specific knowledge.
- The Culminating Experience Team Assessment (CETA) Survey, which asks our faculty and a small group of media professionals to evaluate how well our students’ capstone coursework reflects ACEJMC’s Core Values and Competencies.
- Course Measures, in which faculty review student performance on key course-related measures to determine how well students are able to meet the program’s learning outcomes
