City Income Tax Increase Will Impact Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ Campus Employee Paychecks

Voters in the city of Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ approved an income tax increase in the November 2013 election. As a result, on Jan. 1, 2014, the income tax rate for the city of Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ increased from 2 percent to 2.25 percent.

This means that Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University employees at the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ Campus will have an additional amount withheld from their paycheck for Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ City taxes. The increase will begin with the first pay in January for faculty, classified, unclassified and student employees on the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ Campus.

Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ Campus employees who live in a taxing municipality outside of Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ should contact their city’s tax office to see if the Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ city increase will impact any taxes that may be owed to their city of residence.

Any questions about the change in city income tax should be directed to Lisa Heilman, payroll manager, at 330-672-8640 orlheilman@kent.edu.
