This past semester, the College of Architecture and Environmental Design and College of the Arts at ����ֱ�� State University hosted Adam Nathaniel Furman as part of the 2025-2026 Thomas Schroth Visiting Artist Series where he worked extensively with fashion and architecture students to produce a vibrant gateway exhibit that is now on display at the Armstrong Gallery in the John Elliot College of Architecture and Environmental Design. This workshop was guided by faculty members, Sue Hershberger Yoder and Kristen Mimms Scavnicky, who provided a direct link between the fashion and architecture programs.

����ֱ�� State University’s Healthcare Design Program hosted "A Clinic for Children" student competition. This challenge encouraged students to reimagine pediatric healthcare settings with a focus on creating inviting, fun, and safe environments for young patients. The competition focused on designs that integrate innovative design strategies to enhance the experience of pediatric patients. Participants were encouraged to develop comprehensive concepts that improve accessibility and functionality, while minimizing stress for young patients and their families.

����ֱ�� State University’s Cleveland Urban Design Collaborative and College of Architecture and Environmental Design have received a $20,000 award from the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA) through the Grants for Arts Projects program. The funding will support wintertime temporary art installations and a public event on Cleveland’s Veterans Memorial Bridge as part of the NEA’s America250 initiative.

����ֱ�� State University’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design is proud to announce that alumna Morgan Mackey’s, '25, Master of Landscape Architecture capstone project titled Riverfront Stitch: Mending Cleveland’s Industrial Valley has been awarded a 2025 American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA) Student Honor Award in the General Design category. 

This past September, three undergraduate students from ����ֱ�� State University’s College of Architecture and Environmental Design earned three of the five awards presented at the 2025 AIA Ohio Student Design Awards. These awards are characterized by innovative design that combines conceptual strength with technical and social awareness.

Summer camps for kids interested in architecture don’t come along often – at least that’s what Elise Bolton’s mother discovered when she searched for one. But then, not a whole lot of 11-year-olds may dream of becoming architects.
