Beginning in the fall of 1968, the Office of Minority Affairs was created within the Human Relations Center to serve as a liaison with and provide consultative and special services to minority groups, students, and organizations. The overall goal of the Office of Minority Affairs was for the students they served to realize their full educational potential as noted by Dr. Wilson in April of 1970. Reclaiming your voice as a survivor and a bystander addresses the common feeling of helplessness. After recognizing the signs of violence comes the need to respond, but barriers can exist that bar individuals from intervening.
