Nursing Administration and Health Care Systems Leadership (Levels I-IV) Overview

The nursing profession is currently experiencing a significant shortage of Nurse Leaders. The Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University College of Nursing is partnering with health care organizations to creatively address the shortage by providing targeted education to emerging leaders to prepare them to be successful in a leadership role. While the Nursing Administration and Health Systems Leadership Master's degree prepares nurses to successfully navigate the dynamic health care environment and serve as a leader, it can take several years to complete. In order to address the immediate need, the curriculum has been arranged into four Micro-Credentials to coincide with the development of new leaders. Each level is achieved in one year with the successful completion of 9 credit hours, after which a Certificate is awarded recognizing the student's mastery of the skills necessary serve as a nurse leader. There are three Micro-Credentials possible: Level 1, Emerging Leader; Level 2, Intermediate Leader; and, Level 3, Advanced Leader. Once completed, the student may opt to complete the Practicum, which results in earning the Master's Degree of Nursing Administration and Health Systems Leadership.
