Choose a Major
Major in whatever you enjoy and excel in!
Whether that’s biology, chemistry, neuroscience, psychology, anthropology or philosophy, what matters most is that you complete the prerequisite classes that health professional schools require.
Many students select majors in the sciences (like Biology, Biochemistry, Neuroscience, Physics, Psychology) because those majors often already include many of the required courses.
However, professional schools value diverse perspectives. Non-science majors can absolutely succeed in healthcare careers with proper planning.
Add Value with Relevant Minors
Pursuing a minor can deepen your perspective and strengthen your application. Minors like these let you bring a unique angle to your health profession goals:
Explore ethical issues in medicine, health care access and humanistic perspectives in science. Students who complete this minor may be eligible for admission to NEOMED’s MA or Graduate Certificate in Medical Ethics & Humanities.
Study health through a social lens: how politics, culture, and institutions influence health outcomes.

Other valuable minors include Chemistry or Biological Sciences (for non-science majors), Psychology, Disability Studies and Community Inclusion, and Spanish or other languages.
