The School of Art Presents "Problem Child"

The School of Art Collection and Galleries at Ñý¼§Ö±²¥ State University are excited to exhibit "Problem Child," by Jamie Walters Kessler in the KSU Downtown Gallery located at 141 East Main Street, Ñý¼§Ö±²¥, Ohio. The exhibit will take place August 22 - September 27, 2025, with a reception on August 22, 5-7 p.m. This exhibit features several recent works by this noted artist.

Jamie Walters Kessler is a contemporary post-conceptual artist with an interdisciplinary practice that incorporates thought experiments, object-making, art-actions, intervention, happenings, system-making, new media, sound, video and social practice. Her artistic practice examines and considers issues of social justice by re-imagining the connection between creativity and civic action. Kessler's practice is influenced by histories and methodologies of community organizing, democratic practices, collective action, protest culture and art-making as a form of both introspection and socio-political activism.

She has exhibited nationally and internationally through exhibitions such as the Carnegie Museum of Art, Digital America, the Miller Institute for Contemporary Art, Erie Art Museum, the VII International Exhibition of Mail Art, Rome, Mid-America College Art Association, Corner Projects, Chicago, GAZE Film Festival, San Francisco, Rosebud Film Festival of Washington D.C., Ice House Studios PGH, University of Pittsburgh, Robert Morris University and Feminist Spaces. She is a graduate of Carnegie Mellon University’s School of Art. Originally from Richmond, Virginia, she now lives and works in the Cleveland, Ohio area.

This exhibit is free and open to the public and has been brought to you with support from the Ohio Arts Council.
